ABOUT ELIM

Often people ask why we are called Elim? What does Elim mean? The name Elim is taken directly from the Bible. In Exodus chapter 15:27 the Israelites were on a long and difficult journey through the wilderness when they came to a large Oasis called Elim. Here the people of Israel found refreshment and rest for their tired bodies and then carried on their journey.

Life is a journey which has many difficulties. We all get tired and weary from the journey and the many problems and burdens we all have to face and carry. In Matthew 11:28-29 Jesus says, “Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest”.

Then in John 7:37 Jesus says, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink”. We at Elim have found Jesus words to be true. He has brought rest and satisfaction to our souls as we have put our trust in Him. In a world that can feel like a desert, our church seeks to be a place of spiritual resource within Beersbridge and the surrounding communities.

Here in Beersbridge Elim we are a family church and seek to cater for all ages as you can see from the various activities listed which take place regularly within the life of the church. If you do not already attend another church we would like to take this opportunity to invite you to visit us sometime. It would be our privilege to have you and I can assure you of a warm welcome at Elim.

May God bless you,
Pastor John Lowry
